Usual York Opera House. Brilliant venue but the beer is warm and ridiculously expensive. Don't bother buying it. Everbody moans about it.
Tip........during the break when you need a leak the queue is long (usual thing). There is a single bog next to the stalls on the left and also one right up the top. Funny how nobody seems to use them. It's a great laugh casually walking past the queue, nipping upstairs to do the biz, coming back down and saying, "there's another one upstairs you know"................................Stampede.................two queues.
I'd give the venue five stars but the beer is disgusting. I only ever have one but I like it to be a good 'un.

Compact and full of character and easy to overlook if you don't know where you are going.
The grand circle at the top is quite tight and steeply banked and gets very hot in the summer. The dress circle provides much more legroom and is more comfortable, although two pillars towards of the back at the edges can obscure the view of a small number of seats (these are discounted prices). The stalls are more spacious again.
Small bars are available from the staircases to the upper levels and also a bigger bar on the ground floor and toilets are likewise accessed from the stairs - both can get extremely busy in the intervals.
For all these drawbacks I do like the venue for its character and its ability to attract lots of good comedy acts.

Area was resereved for wheelchair inside the theatre, and when the crowd stood up, we weren''t discouraged when we tried to move to get a better view.
A very steep slope downhill to get into the theatre with bins on the narrow path - not easy to navigate with a wheelchair.
Good acoustics in venue, and very helpful staff.
Prices of ice creams were expensive.
